I signed up for a quilting bee as part of the New England Modern Quilt Guild. This month marked the first month. Jill was up first for the month of September. She asked for a 12.5" block with a friendship star somewhere in the block. I decided to do a friendship star within a star.
What do you think? This is the first bee that I'm participating in and I really hope that Jill likes it.
I'm up for next month and I think I'm going to send out some jewel toned fabrics with white background fabric and ask for any sort of star block.

More Dyed Fabric
Last post I shared some of the fabric that I dyed last weekend. I didn't show you some of the close-ups of the non-solid fabrics, so I thought I'd show you that today. I have another 12 yards or so in the washing machine right now, which will finish off this batch of dyed fabric.

I dyed!!!
This weekend I spent a lot of time dyeing fabric and had a blast. I started doing some Friday night when I got home after a very long, stressful day at work. It was a big stress release. I then did a little bit more yesterday morning and really got into things today. Today KK came over and we dyed fabric together. Here are some pictures of my/our adventure.
As I type, most of the fabric is in the washing machine. I have my medium and light gradations and several mixed fabrics in the wash and my dark gradation and more mixed fabrics are processing a little bit longer. I'll wash those tomorrow.
I really enjoyed dyeing fabric and will definitely do more. I dyed 30 yards of fabric this weekend, using all of the fabric that I bought to do this. I'll have to get more soon. I have some Christmas presents in mind that I'd like to make before it gets too cold to dye outside.

Radiant Star BOM - Block 4
Today I finished the fourth block of the Carol Doak Radiant Star BOM for September. I tried to incorporate more red this time around since the previous blocks had more pink and blue. I'll probably try to incorporate brown more into the next block.
Here are all four blocks so far.
It feels good to be back sewing again. We had house guests for a while and with my broken toe, it had been able two weeks since I've sewn.

Wonderland Honeybun Quilt is Quilted
Before I hurt my foot I managed to finish quilting my Wonderland Honeybun quilt! I LOVE the way the quilting turned out on this. I think it really made the quilt. It was quilted using a variegated tan King Tut thread.
Here's a closer picture of the quilting.
Now to figure out the binding. I think I'm leaning towards a red, but I'm not sure. I would like to use something from my stash, but I haven't been able to find anything yet. I might have to take this one with me to a store sometime soon to find something to match.

Ring Bearer Pillow
This weekend was my husband's cousin's wedding. A couple of months prior I was asked to make the ring bearer pillow out of the mother of the bride's wedding gown. She had a large sash on her dress and I used that to make the pillow.
The sashing had some beautiful details that I wanted to keep, so I made the pillow a rectangle. I waited to show this because the bride didn't see the pillow until last week.
Here's two picture of the beautiful wedding.
In other news, I haven't been doing much quilting since last week when I broke my toe and tore some ligaments in my foot. I'm in a brace until next week, so hopefully I'll be back to quilting soon.
