Now to think about how I want to quilt it (which, given my track record, probably won't happen until next year ) ;o)

Scenic BOM Completed Top
So after a lot of debating, I decided to add a border to my scenic BOM. I brought the quilt with me to several stores, unsure of what I actually wanted to use. When I came across this one fabric, I knew right away that it was the perfect border.

Scenic BOM w/Sashing
I finally finished adding the sashing to the Scenic BOM quilt.
The sashing finishes at 1 1/2" total, or 1/2" each stripe, so it's pretty small. Now I just need to decide what to do next. I kinda want to add a border, but I can't seem to figure out what I want to do. I couldn't find anything in my stash that worked, so I'm not sure if I want to just leave it as is or try and find a border that works. Thoughts?
Now that I got the scenic BOM off my design wall, I was able to put the blocks up that I made at our quiltathon a few weeks ago using a Wonderland honeybun. I still need to play with the placement, as I can already see some groupings I don't like when looking at the picture. I'll leave it up on my design wall for a week or so and will move things around until I'm happy with it.
I also finished the binding on my bento box quilt, finished quilting a secret quilt, and pieced the backing to my Figgy Pudding disappearing nine patch quilt, which come to think of it, I don't think I've posted here. I'll have to get some pics and post those soon.

All 12 Scenic BOMs
I was perusing through my blog last night and I realized I never showed all of the 12 scenic BOMs together. They don't have their sashing done just yet, but I have it all cut out. Once I get done machine quilting the quilt I'm currently working on, I'll add the sashing and show you. Here are all 12 blocks in order from January through December...
I really like how they all came out. To give you an idea of size, each block finishes at 7" so some of the pieces in the blocks are really, really tiny, which is why I love paper piecing, because it helps make those tiny pieces easier.

September Scenic BOM
I have finished the 12th and final BOM in the Carol Doak Scenic BOM from her Yahoo group!!! It's a schoolhouse for September. I'm probably going to attach a bell or something in the top of the roof once I have the top all together.
I forgot to take a picture of all 12 blocks. I'll have to do that soon.
I'm going to sash in between each block with three small strips of fabric that will end up being 1/2" thick each strip with a nine patch in each corner of opposite colors. It's going to be green and white. You'll see soon enough. I have the green all cut, I just need to cut the white so I can start assembling it.

August Scenic BOM
Here's the August block from the Carol Doak Scenic BOM. I just have to finish the September block to be done with all 12. The block finishes 7" square, so those pieces of grass are REALLY tiny.
Here's all 11 of them together up on my design wall... I have a green fabric that I think is going to be perfect for some sashing.
Also, check out my new blog, www.jemsbyjen.blogspot.com! I've gotten back into designing jewelry, and this blog showcases that hobby. I'm even selling some of my pieces on etsy. Check it out.

July BOM and Beginnings of Blooming 9-Patch
I finished the July BOM today. I'm officially all caught up now!!! Here it is. Isn't it cute?
I also started my asian blooming nine patch quilt for my cousin's wedding. I made the nine patches for the first two inner sections. The lighter one is the inner most set of nine patches, and the darker one is the second grouping of nine patches. I placed them up on my design wall for now that's becoming pretty full right now. I'm going to have to do something about that. ;)

Here are the two of them together so that you ca see how they go together.
I'm so excited, I'm taking my sister to the Billy Joel/Elton John Face 2 Face concert tomorrow night as her graduation present.

Two more BOMs Done
I got two more BOMs done today. I started the May one yesterday, but it had a ton of pieces for a 7" block, so it ended up getting finished today. I really love this block. The picture really doesn't do this one justice.

I also got the June BOM done today. I ended up feeling ambitious after I finished the May one and moved right onto the June one. I enjoy this one as well, but it's just hard to beat that May one above.
Here's these two with the other 7 for a total of 9 (Jan through June and Oct through Dec). Just another 3 to go (July through September)...

Back to Quilting - BOM Catch-up
So I finally have my quilting room back. So of course, I had to do some quilting today. I have a lot of catching up to do with all of the time I haven't been able to quilt with the move and our house guests.

Today I worked on the Carol Doak Scenic BOM, finishing the April BOM. Here it is:
I tried to find some fabric that had the feel of rain for "April Showers" and this Hoffman print in the setting triangles was the closest print that I could find.
Here's all of the scenic BOMs together up on my design wall.
I also worked on piecing some of the McCall's Mystery Quilt, but didn't get very far on that because I have a lot of work to do around the house and stuff.

March Scenic BOM
I finished the March Scenic BOM tonight. This one took the least amount of time to make. For some reason, the fabric choices came easy for this one. I bought an extra fat quarter of Mark Lipinski's fabric at his event a few weeks ago knowing that I would use it for the setting triangles for this block because they have a St. Patrick's day feel to them, so that's probably why the fabric choices were easy. Plus, I knew I wanted green grass, so it really didn't take a lot of color decisions.

I like this block. I'm really glad that it was more scenic and not another house block. I have a bunch of Easter fabric for the next BOM. I'm excited to see what it looks like.

February BOM
The February BOM was posted early as Carol is traveling right now. It was designed to be red, white, and blue on the bottom to symbolize President's day. I, like many others, decided to do it in a Valentines theme. I didn't want to do another red, white, and blue block because the November one was that way for the election and I'm sure the July one will be as well. Here it is...

I'm sorta hoping that the next few blocks aren't houses. I'd rather they be more scenic, since this is a "scenic block of the month." So far 3 out of 5 of the blocks have been houses. I'll just have to see...

Caught up on BOM
I'm finally caught up on the Scenic BOM that I started a week or two ago. It started on October, and tonight I finally finished the last block I needed to catch up on, November. It took a while for me to figure out what fabric I wanted for this block. It also took a while for me to get motivated on this one because it was my least favorite of all the blocks so far, so I put it off to the end. I think it ended up coming up cute.
I tried to make it more fall-like with the colors. I was afraid that it would look too 4th of July with the flag that was supposed to be for the election instead.
Here's a picture of all of them together to date:
I've also been working on the machine quilting to the mystery quilt. Here's a close up of one of the blocks. It looks a little distorted in the picture for some reason and this was the best picture I got. I think the settings were messed up on my camera. I have to mess around with the settings.

Another BOM Catch-up
I completed the December Scenic BOM on Friday. We had my father-in-law over yesterday for his birthday, so I didn't get a chance to post this earlier.
I think it came out cute. I really debated on the setting triangles for a few days. I continued to go back to this red poinsettia fabric but I was considering a few other new Christmas fabric choices that I recently bought at an after-Christmas sale. The deciding factor was the fact that this Poinsettia fabric was a scrap and the other fabric would have required me to make the first cut. I decided to leave the other fabric alone for another project and to use what I already had in my scraps. I think it came out cute.
Now it's onto the November BOM and I'll be all caught up. I've been putting the November one off because I'm trying to figure out how to make it appear more fall-like. It's of a house with a flag for the election. I'm going to try and pick my fabric carefully for this one.
I've also got the mystery quilt on my machine right now working on the machine quilting to it. I'm hoping to be finished with it by the end of the week.

BOM catch-up
So in my 2009 goals I said that I was going to do all of the Carol Doak Scenic BOMs even though I was starting several months into it. I finished the current January block (previous post) already and moved on to the first block, October. It was yet another quick and easy block. I really like this block. I think it came out really well. Much better than the January one. I love the way the colors work in this block.

Now it's on to the December BOM. I'm stumped on the fabric for this one. I just can't seem to find the right combination. I've been playing with all sorts of combinations and different fabrics for the past couple of hours (interrupted by an hour+ phone call with my college room mate). It shouldn't be this hard. It's a cute house block and I just can't find the right fabric for the actual house and also tie in with the Christmas feel to the block. I think I'm leaning towards using a bright lime green Christmas fabric but I'm still not sure. I think this one is going to have to sit out for a little while as I think about it. Hopefully it will just come to me soon.
