Last month, for my Lovely Year of Finishes challenge, I decided to make a bag. This month I feel like I should actually challenge myself to finishing a quilt, even though it's a short month and I know I'll be gone for QuiltCon. That being said, I'm putting it out there that I will finish my One Block Wonder quilt that I started at least five years ago.
I've always loved this quilt top, but never knew how to quilt it. Now that my machine quilting skills have improved, I think I know how I want to finish it.
I think one of the reasons I never finished this quilt was that it didn't lay completely flat, so I'm going to have to work around that. I attribute that to the fact that the print I used was from Joann's and wasn't the highest quality, despite being a really great print for this technique.

Awesome quilt top. Love the technique.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love the color variation. I did one of these a few years back and it's still one of my faves! Good luck on the finish!
ReplyDeleteThe color arrangement is great. It draws me in and takes me all around the quilt, which is what I look for. Quilting can forgive some puckery issues. Isn't this fun to actually finish the projects that have been in time out for so long? Can't wait to see your finish!
ReplyDeleteI love it. Looks like a beautiful flower garden.
ReplyDeleteStarch that bad boy and lay into him with the hot iron! That's what I would do. Then baste and drool two spools of aurifil into it. That's the next thing I'd do, too. Show no mercy. I would totally do it for you because beating things into submission is my cup of tea. Very pretty, too.
ReplyDelete*drool to drop
ReplyDeletewhoops!
Haahaa, Jenny, "beating things into submission" love it!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt top is beautiful. You were right about the fabric being a great print for the technique. The colors variations really give movement to the top, just wait till it's quilted.
Hope to meet you at Quilt Con.
It's absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful. I can't wait to see how you quilt it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a stunning quilt! Good luck with finishing it this month :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing quilt! It's so lively and bright - sure to brighten the darkest winter! Are all the blocks from the same fabric or did you buy several different fabrics?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. I have one of these sitting in a bag just ready to piece together. Maybe I will put this on my finish list now that I see your great top.
